CACCIA MATEMATICA AND ESTIMATES AND MEASURES
In search of “hidden” mathematics in an Amusement Park.
Project objectives:
- reinforce concepts of maths and geometry (powers, coordinates, magic squares, polygons, angles, times, distances, speed) and stimulate curiosity by solving puzzles;
- understand that mathematics is all around us and helps us interpret reality;
- acquire spatial orientation skills.

You can choose from two courses:
FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL (CLASSES 3, 4 AND 5)
Caccia matematica is a fun and stimulating search for figures, numbers and logical connections between the attractions at “Bimbopoli”, the area of Mirabilandia dedicated to young children to stimulate curiosity and strengthen concepts of maths and geometry.
Estimates and measures is a course that gradually teaches the concept of the measurement of a quantity. Students first make an estimate and then measure distances, heights and depths, using and comparing different methods and measurement tools. Finally, they check the reliability of predictions made during the estimation phase.
FOR LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL
Caccia matematica Using their own eyes or simple tools, students search for answers to logical-mathematical questions, describe the properties of geometric figures and learn the concept of horizontal coordinates and Cartesian coordinates.
Estimates and measures Course that allows a gradual approach to the physical dimensions of “speed” through observations, evaluations and measurements. Students start with an “on sight” estimate of the speed of some of the Park’s attractions, then move on to make more precise measurements of times and distances to calculate the speed. Finally, they check the reliability of predictions made during the estimation phase.
